Sandra is one of Germany's most popular groups in modern times. It consists of Sandra Cretu (vocals) and Michael Cretu (producer, songwriter). It rose to international stardom in 1985, with the release of its second single (the first was a German version of Alphaville's "Big in Japan"), "(I'll Never Be) Maria Magdalena" - its synth-based 1980's dance sound crafted by boyfriend Michael Cretu proved to be an overwhelming success. Through the following years group had a string of major hits, including "In the Heat of the Night", "Heaven Can Wait", "Everlasting Love", "We'll Be Together" and "Hiroshima". In 1988 Sandra Laurer married Michael Cretu(born Mihai Creţu) and in the 1990's she collaborated on his new project named Enigma.
